The Problem
Cockroaches are a significant health hazard in NZ homes and commercial kitchens. German cockroaches breed rapidly indoors, while gisborne cockroaches invade from outdoors. They spread bacteria including E. coli and Salmonella, trigger asthma and allergies, and contaminate food. Cockroach activity is year-round but increases in warmer months.
Signs of Infestation
- Live cockroaches seen at night, especially in kitchens and bathrooms
- Droppings resembling black pepper or coffee grounds
- Egg cases (oothecae) in hidden areas
- Musty, oily smell in heavy infestations
- Smear marks along walls and surfaces
