The Problem
New Zealand has several aggressive wasp species including German wasps, common wasps, and paper wasps. Wasps build nests in roof cavities, wall voids, trees, and underground. They become increasingly aggressive in late summer and autumn (February to May) as colonies reach peak size. Wasp stings can cause severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) and multiple stings can be dangerous for anyone.
